Service Dog Puppy Training Assistant

Job Location: Torrington, WY (with occasional day trips to Longmont, CO for training or events)

Job Snapshot: This role offers a unique opportunity to support the early development of future service dogs. This Puppy Training Assistant will work independently to provide essential at-home and public socialization experiences for puppies in the PAWS’abilities program. You will work with the Training Coordinator and the prison’s Canine Program Coordinator. This position requires you to take two puppies/dogs into your home. Two pups Monday morning to Wednesday afternoon, and two pups Wednesday afternoon to Friday afternoon. In conjunction with our Training Coordinator, you will plan outings and experiences with the pups to help them gain exposure to different environments and social settings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle.
  • A safe home environment suitable for training puppies, including space for crating up to two dogs overnight.
  • Fantastic organization skills for planning and scheduling outings.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with trainers and coordinators.
  • Experience with, or willingness to learn, positive reinforcement dog training techniques.
  • Basic understanding of, or ability to learn, service dog laws and regulations.
